Paediatric First Aid at Work (QCF)

This is the twelve-hour qualification for individuals who have responsibility for the care of children and infants in the workplace and meets the requirements for paediatric first aid outlined in the Early Years Foundation Stage 2014. It is formally accredited by an awarding body and certificates are valid for three years. Delegates will learn about the role and responsibilities of the paediatric first-aider, first aid for an infant or a child who is unresponsive and is / is not breathing normally, an infant or a child who has a foreign body airway obstruction, an infant or a child with head and spinal injuries, an infant or a child who has sustained an electric shock and illnesses, injuries and emergencies. In addition, delegates will learn about how to complete accident records in a childcare setting.

Emergency First Aid at Work (QCF)

This is the one day qualification for low risk workplaces. It is formally accredited by an awarding body and certificates are valid for three years. Delegates will learn about the role and responsibilities of a first aider, how to deal with an unresponsive casualty who is/ is not breathing, choking, external bleeding and minor injuries.

First Aid at Work (QCF)

This is the three-day qualification for people wanting to be a workplace first aider. It is formally accredited by an awarding body and certificates are valid for three years. Delegates will learn about the role and responsibilities of a first-aider, how to deal with an unresponsive casualty who is/ is not breathing, choking, external bleeding and minor injuries, conduct a secondary survey, administer first aid to a casualty with suspected head and spinal injuries, and being able to administer first aid to a casualty with anaphylaxis.

First Aid at Work requalification (QCF)

This is a two-day requalification course for people who currently hold the First Aid at Work qualification. It is formally accredited by an awarding body and certificates are valid for three years. Delegates must show their current qualification to undertake this course.

Annual update

This is a three-hour training course to keep first aiders up to date and meet HSE guidance. Delegates will refresh their knowledge and skills to deal with an unresponsive casualty, deal with choking and external bleeding. Delegates must hold a valid first aid qualification to undertake this training and will be issued with certificat­ion from Thinktank Training Solutions.

Basic Life Support & Safe Use of an Automatic External Defibrillator (RQF)

This is a half day course for individuals who have access to an Automated External Defibrillator to provide the skills as recommended by The Resuscitation Council (UK).

The course can be formally accredited by an awarding body and certificates are valid for three years. Delegates will learn about how to deal with an unresponsive casualty who is/ is not breathing, how to safely use an automated external defibrillator and basic maintenance checks for the unit.

Anaphylaxis training

This is a two-hour training session to equip learners with the knowledge and skills to deal with anaphylaxis and the administration of auto injectors. Delegates will learn about common triggers, the body’s response, dealing with anaphylaxis and a range of auto injectors. It is recommended that delegates retake this training after three years and attendees will be issued with certification from Thinktank Training Solutions.

Activity First Aid

This is a tailored course which is usually delivered in three hours. Delegates will learn about managing a casualty who is unresponsive, external bleeding, choking and bespoke injuries as agreed suitable for your activity / club. It is recommended that delegates retake this training after three years and attendees will be issued with certification from Thinktank Training Solutions.

First aid for Parents and Carers

This short course will provide those who care for young children with knowledge and skills to deal with a range of situations including not breathing, choking, poisoning, burns and temperature issues. Funding for this training is available for some areas.
